Questions travelers ask

Galápagos cruise FAQs

What is included in a Galaxy Cruises sailing?

Most Galaxy cruises include accommodations, onboard meals, guided shore visits, snorkeling equipment and basic beverages such as water, coffee and tea. Check the inclusions for your specific departure, particularly park fees, wetsuits and transfers.

Are flights to the Galápagos included in the cruise fare?

Usually not. International flights to Ecuador and flights from Quito or Guayaquil to the Galápagos are generally separate. We can help you coordinate flights that arrive in time for embarkation.

What additional fees should I budget for?

Most international adult visitors currently pay a $200 Galápagos National Park entrance fee and a $20 Transit Control Card fee. Children may qualify for a reduced park fee. These costs are generally separate from the cruise fare, and we’ll review the current requirements before you travel.

When is the best time to take a Galápagos cruise?

Cruises run year-round. December through May generally brings warmer water and calmer seas. June through November is cooler, with nutrient-rich currents and different marine conditions. If swimming in warmer water matters most, the warmer season is usually preferable.

Do all Galápagos cruise itineraries visit the same islands?

No. Western routes may include Isabela and Fernandina, while southern or eastern itineraries can visit Española or San Cristóbal. Request the day-by-day itinerary to see the specific visitor sites and activities scheduled for your sailing.

Is snorkeling included, and do I need to bring equipment?

Many Galaxy itineraries include snorkeling, with equipment generally provided. Wetsuits and other water activities can vary by yacht, so check the inclusions for your departure.

How physically active are Galápagos cruises?

Expect some guided walks on beaches or uneven volcanic paths, plus transfers between the yacht and shore by small boat. The level of activity varies by visitor site. Let us know about any mobility concerns so we can help assess the itinerary before you book.

Will I get seasick on a small yacht?

Sea conditions vary throughout the year and by route. Waters are often calmer from December through May, while some crossings can be rougher from July through October. If motion sickness is a concern, we can discuss cabin location, vessel choices, and the timing of your trip.

What should I pack for a Galápagos cruise?

Bring lightweight, quick-drying clothes, sturdy walking shoes, water shoes or secure sandals, swimwear, sun protection, and a light rain or wind jacket. A small dry bag is useful for shore excursions. Galaxy generally supplies snorkeling equipment, so you may not need to pack your own.

Can Galaxy accommodate food allergies or special diets?

Galaxy Cruises says it can accommodate vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, and other dietary needs when notified in advance. Tell us about food allergies or dietary requests when you inquire so they can be reviewed before booking.

Can we reserve an entire yacht for a family or private group?

Yes, private charters may be available on select Galaxy yachts. The fleet includes small vessels with different cabin layouts and capacities. Tell us your group size and preferred dates, and we can check charter options.

Can I request a specific yacht or cabin type?

Yes. Choose a vessel when you search or tell us which cabin you prefer. We’ll confirm the available categories and deck locations for your departure.

Are the displayed prices final?

Not necessarily. Published fares are usually per person based on two guests sharing a cabin. Cabin category, solo occupancy, promotions and additional fees can change the total. Request a confirmed quote before paying.

How do deposits, changes, and cancellations work?

Deposit amounts, final payment dates, and cancellation terms depend on the booking conditions for your sailing. We’ll provide those details before you make a reservation.

Can Beyond the Castle Travel help with flights and Ecuador extensions?

Yes. We can help arrange flights, hotels, transfers, and extra time in places such as Quito or mainland Ecuador before or after your cruise.

Does sending an inquiry reserve a cabin?

No. Your inquiry tells us which departure interests you. We’ll confirm current availability, answer your questions, and explain the steps to reserve your cabin.
